SINGAPORE, 14 February 2020 — Lunch Actually, Asia’s first and largest lunch dating company announces today on Valentine’s Day that it will be providing virtual dates for its clients, who are not comfortable with a face-to-face date as an option due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

This Singapore-grown company, whose main business is to help singles find love by arranging dates with compatible matches who have been screened by its Dating Consultants, has seen 23% fewer dates happening in the last 2 weeks of February.

“In light of the recent alert of DORSCON orange, we are prepared to take more measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients,“ said Violet Lim, CEO & Co-Founder of Lunch Actually. “We understand that our singles may have concerns to go out on dates at this period. At the same time, we don’t know how long this outbreak will last, and our singles still wish to make progress in their dating journey. Hence, we are offering this Virtual Date alternative for them.”

Clients can opt for virtual date to meet their handpicked matches through different avenues, such as Zoom video and Skype. Due to privacy, Lunch Actually dating consultants, just like with face-to-face dates, will arrange and coordinate all the details prior to the date. This means, checking both parties for availability, setting up the link for the date, sending date reminder and taking feedback after each date.

A Lunch Actually member, J, in his late 30s, Marketing Director said, “I like the video date idea because it may reduce any awkwardness. I also can get a good sense of my match before actually meeting her in person.” Another member, T, in his late 20s, Senior Executive, also said, “It’s very interesting and it will be a new experience for me and my date, so it’s something we both can look forward to!”

Lunch Actually has already stepped up hygiene measures in its office premise. Aside from taking temperature every day before entering the building, our dating consultants also work in 2 teams to minimize the risk of infection across teams and premises. Visitors to the office are required to sign a travel declaration and their temperatures are taken as well. The consultation rooms are cleaned and sanitized twice daily.

For any singles who are in need of hand sanitizers, Lunch Actually is giving out free sanitizers (up to 2 x 50ml) for them to bring home.

“We’re confident that Singaporeans can go through this Coronavirus together by staying united and positive. We hope that by providing virtual dates, singles can continue to look forward to dating and getting to know quality and compatible singles in a safe and convenient environment, even during this period,” says Violet.
